Portable Air Conditioner for home office
I was searching for a portable aircon unit for my home office setup, one suitable to use when taking incoming or making phone calls. The TCL unit performs very well and operates reasonably quiet enough not to interfere with office tasks. The best way I find to use the unit, is to set it to max cool mode prior to office start time then reduce the unit output to sleep mode during working hours.

    Happy with purchase
Fantastic portable aircon. Perfect for bedroom, as many other portable aircons, it's a little noisy. With the heatwave we experienced recently, this unit, was a lifesaver.

    Emptying water every hour
For the first 2 weeks the unit ran 5-6 hours a day perfectly before getting it's first full tank error. Emptied the tank and turned it back on and within an hour it was full again. I can only use it in continuous drain mode with a hose into a bucket, or stopping it and emptying it manually every hour. Asked support about it and was told it's normal function. (despite it not doing this for the first 2 weeks) wouldn't be a horrible issue if it came with a drain kit, but it doesnt. (as its advertised as rarely needing draining because of self evaporation)

    Questions & answers

What is the running cost? Darb · 2025-10-26
Hello there, unfortunately - there isn't a standard way to determine the cost of an air conditioner or heater (like with fridges, washing machine, etc) as it depends on things like the ambient temperature, the temperature you set and how long you run it for. It will use anywhere between 1.5-3.5 kilowatts an hour. You can calculate the cost by finding out how much your energy provider charge you per kilowatt and using that as the basis - I generally estimate at the peak price, so I don't get bill shock and can budget it (I have a portable air conditioner, similar to this one, myself). Sorry I couldn't be of more help on this! Cheers, Adam from Appliances Online. AdamD, Appliances Online
can you buy a kit to fit a glass sliding door Scott · 2025-08-09
Hello Thank you for this product question. Sorry, no, the kits have been designed for sliding windows only, not doors. To fit a doorway, I have had customers say that they went and had this piece custom made, some have mentioned that they went and bought thick styrene and cut the shape of the hose and use that this way, just a thought for you with options. I hope this information will assist you when shopping with us at Appliances Online. Our Sydney-based team is available 24/7 to assist you at Ph: 1300-000-500. Colin Jones, Appliances Online
Hi, is it possible to explain how it goes in the window please, thx😊 Melody67 · 2024-12-16
Hi Melody, it's designed to fit horizontal or vertical sliding windows. The kit includes an adjustable panel that fits into the window frame, creating a seal. The exhaust hose connects to this panel, directing hot air outside efficiently. Hopefully this helps =) Cheers, Adam from Appliances Online. AdamD, Appliances Online
The noise level is "Indoor Sound Level 65". How do I use that metric to get a sense of how noisy the portable air conditioner may be ? Rochus · 2024-11-06
Hello there, apologies - it looks like "dB" dropped off with our most recent website update. Thank you for flagging =) It's 65 decibels - which is pretty standard for portable air conditioners and makes it minimally noisier than a pedestal fan. Hopefully this helps! Kind regards, Adam from Appliances Online. AdamD, Appliances Online
