Portable Air Conditioner for home office
I was searching for a portable aircon unit for my home office setup, one suitable to use when taking incoming or making phone calls. The TCL unit performs very well and operates reasonably quiet enough not to interfere with office tasks. The best way I find to use the unit, is to set it to max cool mode prior to office start time then reduce the unit output to sleep mode during working hours.

    Happy with purchase
Fantastic portable aircon. Perfect for bedroom, as many other portable aircons, it's a little noisy. With the heatwave we experienced recently, this unit, was a lifesaver.

    Emptying water every hour
For the first 2 weeks the unit ran 5-6 hours a day perfectly before getting it's first full tank error. Emptied the tank and turned it back on and within an hour it was full again. I can only use it in continuous drain mode with a hose into a bucket, or stopping it and emptying it manually every hour. Asked support about it and was told it's normal function. (despite it not doing this for the first 2 weeks) wouldn't be a horrible issue if it came with a drain kit, but it doesnt. (as its advertised as rarely needing draining because of self evaporation)

    Questions & answers

Do you have to empty the unit from excessive humidity ELISABETH · 2026-08-31
Thank you for your product inquiry. This unit includes a drain hose, allowing it to drain water outside. However, during general use, moisture can be expelled through the vent hose. On extremely humid days, excess water may accumulate in the internal container, which you will need to empty. To do this, move the unit to an area where you can remove the rear drain plug and release the excess water. After emptying it, reconnect the vent hose to the back of the unit. Please note that these portable units come with a window kit designed only for sliding windows; they are not suitable for sliding doors or casement windows. Keep in mind that the unit can be quite noisy since it operates in the same room as you. If you are using it in a bedroom, it’s best to close the door and cool the room while keeping the door closed during sleep. If you find it too loud, consider pre-cooling the room and using the timer feature to turn off the unit after you fall asleep. Does the air conditioner hose need to be installed so it sticks out the window fully? My windows have been flyscreened and barred so if I was to install it, it would only sit facing the fly screen rather than being completely outdoors. Will it work? Tori · 2024-12-26
Hi Tori, Thank you for your question. No, the hose does not need to stick out of the window for the installation. The 'plate' that the exhaust hose connects to is designed to sit in the channel where the sliding portion of your window sits and should protrude any further than that. If you would like further clarification on the installation requirements of this unit, pages 4-6 of the user manual provide detailed installation instructions. Hope this helps.
