I prefer to buy electronic products with Sony brand. However, this time, I bought a Bravia TV, KDL50W00B last 19 July 2014 and lasted only for 20 months and is now broken. The screen panel no longer shows pictures but vertical lines of different colours. Sony support referred me to SS Electrics P/L and confirm this problem who charged me $155 for the visit. I was wondering whether to have the TV repaired or just buy a new one. Despite of this experience, I still prefer to buy a Sony TV.

The thin bezel makes the 50" big enough for that cinema experience, but small enough that you don't feel crowded out of the room. The sound is fine out of the box, but use a good sound bar (e.g. HT-CT370 2.1 plus wireless woofer) to complete the package for the average home. The menus can take a bit to navigate, and the options are sometimes hard to find first off.

I got a great deal on the TV - definatly shop around and negotiate with sales staff. My first TV was a sony and I loved it back in the 90s it was a great TV - since then I have owned 4 other branded TVs working my way up to this beaut. I am glad to be rocking a Sony in the lounge once again - It is the best I have owned but you would obviously expect that - being a current model in the ever changing electronics world (although TV innovation has slowed somewhat down of recent times, now is a great time to get the latest) If you are not going to fork out for a 4k definitely get this range at the minimum especially if you are buying for your main TV. The blacks are very black and the motion is super smooth - Sport is amazing amazing, i regularly get comments from friends that they have never seen a game look so good. Cons - interface is not as good some of the other leading brands - built in apps are not amazing but they are sufficient - integration with sony receiver is ok but not fantastic. overall though great tv you should buy it - I would buy it again
