I don't have space for a sub and a sound bar would cover the bottom of the TV, as the TV only has a short stand. The unit arrived quickly and was easy to setup with the TV sitting on top. I wanted ARC so that the volume could be controlled from the exiting TV remote and this works great. The sound quality is so much better than the standard TV speakers that I generally listen at lower volume. Music from the NAS plays faultlessly and sounds good - not quite Hi-Fi but close enough for every day listening. I use the Sony SongPal app from my phone to control the unit and this works OK. The only thing I am not happy about is the permissions for the app which are quite intrusive and over the top to control a sound bar. Apart from that I am happy with the sound, looks and flexibility of the Sony HT XT3.

I was not interested in a surround sound system so my choice was the soundbase or a traditional stereo system. The ht xt3 works brilliantly with the TV but also gives me incredibly good music playback. I listen to streamed music a lot and the upscaling of the sound quality works stunningly well. MY first reaction was that the remote was another dull plastic affair but in use it feels solidly comfortable and is practical. So I decided not to drop any design points for this. The unit itself is a high class design. The sound quality and connectivity are everything I hoped for and I now aspire to the stand alone speakers and headphones that Sony have produced with matching technology.

Great sound quality, works with everything, great for music also.
