    Oversized and overweight
    I bought this iron to replace a Philips Azur Excel Plus 515 which died after 25 years of regular use. This iron is bulkier, heavier and less comfortable to use. Being heavier with a larger sole plate it doesn’t glide as easily over the clothes. Even the temperature dial is harder to read and access than the old iron. I expected after 25 years the product would be at least a little better to use than the old one but it just isn’t and it doesn’t iron any better either. I wish I had bought something smaller.

    Compare Old to New
    Our previous iron was a Philips Azur Performance Plus 2400W. Unfortunately, it got retired after falling onto tiled concrete floor. It only fell because I tripped over the chord that pulled the iron of the ironing board. Surprisingly it only received damage to the housing at its base by dislodging from its connections and slightly coming apart. I managed to get it back together again, secure it, and Wola, to my amazement it worked fine. One can only say a great product well manufactured. It was a great iron, and it was a shame to have to opt for safety and buy a new one. With its great performance we decided to go with Philips again. However, having used the iron now for about 4 months my only comparison complaints of new to old are, the chord is only 2.5M as opposed to 3M, but this is only our situation, it may not be to others. There is no chord tidy clip, the filler housing cap opens to the front and stays erect and can be slammed against the tap causing it to break, the old opened sideways and lay flat, the water housing plastic is dark and difficult to see the water level. It may be only me, but I feel the handle position/style has been changed slightly and was awkward to pick up for the first few times. It heats up quick and does do a great job as did the old. Iron was purchased 12/7/2024, and except for the differences above I would have given it a 5 star rating.

    Good size, relatively light and irons well
    Glides easily over clothes so do not have to apply much pressure, easy to select type of fabric with rotary dial, good size water tank and sufficient length of wire
